Kathryn Wiens, Psy.D.

  • Dr. Kathryn Wiens earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, DC. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and her Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She completed an APA-accredited internship at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and pursued post-doctoral training at St. Luke Institute in Silver Spring, MD. She is licensed to practice psychology in California, Maryland, and North Carolina.

  • Dr. Wiens specializes in therapy for adults from dysfunctional families and for adults dealing with anxiety, adjustment issues, depression, addictive behaviors, and trauma. Her specialties also include couples’ therapy and therapy for those managing military life issues. Her approach is integrated, which means she will tailor your sessions to meet your individual needs and concerns.

    Throughout her careering spanning more than 13 years of professional experience, Dr. Wiens has worked with adults in a variety of settings, including community mental health organizations, campus counseling centers, residential treatment programs, and private practices. She believes that therapy is a thoughtful, authentic conversation in a space that is safe, warm, comfortable, and nonjudgmental.

    Dr. Wiens can help you identify, gain clarity about, and cope with whatever feels relevant to you in the moment, including life’s most difficult situations. She can help you figure out what is working for you and also what might be standing in the way of your goals and dreams. Among other things, you are invited to talk about your relationships, painful feelings, what you want in life, and who you are as a person.

  • Dr. Wiens is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Register for Health Service Psychologists.

  • Dr. Wiens is a Navy spouse of 17 years and has enjoyed living all over the country. She stays very active trying to keep up with her two energetic sons. In her spare time, Dr. Wiens enjoys being outside to run, hike, birdwatch, or just relax. She is passionate about the natural world, sharing delicious meals with friends, and spending time with her family.
