  • Dr. Matt VanDusen earned his undergraduate degree at the North Carolina State University followed by graduate studies for his masters and doctorate at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego. Dr. Matt is licensed as a Psychologist, Martial and Family therapist, as well as a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

  • Dr. Matt is nationally certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Matt has been practicing as a therapist since 2009. He has diverse populations including families, couples, and individuals. Dr. Matt has specialized in the treatment of early childhood trauma, addiction, and family dynamics. His training has included extensive experience with the evidence-based treatments of Cognitive behavioral, Acceptance Commitment, and Dialectical Behavioral therapies.

    A foundation of Dr. Matt’s work is the connection to one’s values as a motivator for behavioral change. Dr. Matt is experienced with the incorporation of spirituality and faith into the therapeutic process to support inspiration and motivation for change. Dr. Matt’s conceptualizes an individual’s experience through the perspective of their family system, culture, beliefs, and lived experience.

  • Dr. Matt has served as an Adjunct Professor teaching masters and doctoral level psychology courses in the Marital and Family Therapy program at AIU.

  • Dr. Matt moved from his native North Carolina making Southern California home after marrying his wife and starting a family. Dr. Matt loves the outdoors including hobbies of weight training, hiking, golf, and travel. Dr. Matt is early to rise and orients his day with daily exercise and mindfulness practices. He is an avid learner and enjoys reading about philosophy and spirituality as part of his self-care habits.

  • Dr. Matt is a family man who finds meaning through time with his children and wife going on adventures near and far. He is passionate about his spiritual faith and being of service to his community. Working as a psychologist is part of Dr. Matt’s orientation in life to serve others in their pursuit of a rich and meaningful life.
