  • Dr. Stephanie Abel earned her Ph.D. in 2014 from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in San Diego, CA. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Psychology and was awarded distinction in her major from San Diego State University. Dr. Abel is licensed to practice psychology in California.

  • Providing supportive, compassionate and culturally sensitive therapy for individuals and groups to promote growth, self-acceptance, and enhanced coping abilities. Dr. Abel also administers a wide range of psychological tests for enriching awareness of individual coping patterns, strengths and weaknesses, and personality features to inform treatment recommendations that are best suited to an individual’s specific needs. Dr. Abel assists male and female clients from a variety of cultural, ethnic, racial, age and socioeconomic backgrounds. She helps people overcome and manage anxiety, depression, sleep-disturbances, adjustment challenges, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma history, substance use challenges, schizophrenia, crisis management/stabilization, chronic pain and injury, personality disorders, legal issues, difficulties in relationships, and coping with loss and grief.

    Dr. Abel currently conducts individual therapy and psychological evaluations with children, adults, members of the geriatric population and families involved in the Military. Additionally, Dr. Abel has spent over 4.5 years at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) conducting research and providing therapy for individuals who experience severe mental illnesses (SMI). She also has worked at Pacific Neurobehavioral Clinic (PNBC) providing individual therapy, HRV Biofeedback, and neuropsychological evaluations for individuals with workers compensation injuries as well as those recovering from traumatic brain injury. She has also worked at Practical Recovery Inc. providing inpatient group and individual therapy to people who experience substance use life-challenges. During her training, Dr. Abel has had an additional 2 years of experience as a Psychological Assistant conducting court mandated Child Welfare Services and Juvenile Hall assessments. She has worked at Bayview Behavioral Health Hospital/Paradise Valley and Jary Barreto Crisis Center assisting individuals in crisis. Dr. Abel has assisted homeless veterans gain access to resources and support at the annual VVSD Stand Down in San Diego, CA.

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director of Neurofeedback at Achieve Concierge in La Jolla, CA, providing psychotherapy and Neurofeedback (EEG Biofeedback) services to adults and children to address concerns with sleep, anxiety, focus and concentration, trauma, executive functioning, physiological over-arousal, TBI, substance abuse, disordered eating, enhancing sports performance among other life challenges. She is a member of the California Psychological Association (CPA).

  • Born and raised in Seattle, WA, Dr. Abel followed the sunny path to San Diego for college and never left. On her time off, Dr. Abel enjoys traveling, being in nature, trying out new cooking recipes, going on hikes, and visiting with friends.

  • According to Dr. Abel, “I believe therapy is all about building a supportive relationship so an individual can gain insight into aspects of their life, feel more empowered to tackle challenges, explore past and current relationships, and develop greater levels of self-acceptance, coping, and balance in life.” She also believes, “there is no limit to what you can achieve when you have the support to realize your potential.”
